השראה

הרבה מדברים על השראה בתחום האמנות. יש אמנים המחכים לה ואחרים  מזמנים אותה ויוצרים אותה, יש ציירים הממעטים ליצור מהדמיון  ואחרים הדמיון עבורם הוא כלי עבודה בלתי נדלה. השראה אינה דבר מסתורי או דמות אגדית השולחת קרניים מיתולוגיות לאמן מרחוק, היא תהליך של יצירת דחף עוצמתי פנימי מספיק אצל האומן על מנת ליצור. דחף הוא גל אנרגיה, כזו המאגדת בתוכה גם את הצורך והתשוקה ליצור עם שימוש בתוכן ורעיון שהצייר מביא מתוכו אל הבד או הנייר. ברגע שהדחף היצירתי עולה והתוכן הרצוי מתחבר אליו, נוצרת אנרגיה חזקה, מה שמביא לרגש של התלהבות וריגוש חזק המביא את הצייר לניצול הרבה יותר טוב של יכולתו לבטא את עצמו ואת הנושא שהוא יצייר. אמנות טובה אי אפשר לעשות בחוסר חשק. רכיב הרגש יתפוס חלק משמעותי באנרגיה היוצאת ומשתחררת מהצייר. ההתלהבות או הריגוש החזק היא למעשה המצב שבו האנרגיה הופכת לרגש חי המשחרר את הצייר מהביקורת העצמית, מהזהירות, מהאדישות ומאפשר לו לעבוד מתוך נוכחות מלאה יותר. בכל תהליך יצירת אמנות יש רגש אותו מתעל הצייר בתהליך הציור עצמו. רעיונות הבאים ללא חיבור רגשי עמוק והשראה המגיעה מחיבור לעולם הרגש והדמיון האישי של הצייר הופך את הציור למשהו טכני מדי וריק יותר ומחובר פחות לעוצמת הביטוי. אמן יכול לקבל השראה ממקורות רבים פנימיים וחיצוניים, וכל מה שיוצר אצלו דחף עמוק לבטא זאת על הנייר או הבד, הוא מקור להשראה. הוא צריך להיות פעיל מספיק על מנת לתת לה מקום ולא לחכות לה שתגיע בעצמה. האמן הוא היוצר, היוזם , המקור והגורם.

Inspiration

Much is said about inspiration in the realm of art. There are artists who wait for it, and others who summon it and actively create it. There are painters who rarely work from the imagination, while for others the imagination serves as an inexhaustible working tool. Inspiration is neither a mysterious phenomenon nor a mythical figure that sends mythical rays to the artist from afar; rather, it is a process of generating within the artist a sufficiently powerful internal impulse to create. An impulse is a wave of energy—one that unites the need and the passion to create with the content and idea that the painter draws from within himself onto the canvas or paper. The moment the creative impulse arises and connects with the desired content, a potent energy is formed. This gives rise to a feeling of enthusiasm and intense excitement, enabling the painter to make far better use of his capacity to express both himself and the subject he is painting. Good art cannot be produced without desire. The emotional element occupies a significant place in the energy that flows outward and is released by the painter. Enthusiasm, or strong excitement, is in fact the state in which this energy is transformed into a living emotion that liberates the painter from self-criticism, caution, and indifference, allowing him to work from a fuller presence. In every process of artistic creation there is emotion that the painter channels through the act of painting itself. Ideas that arrive without a deep emotional connection, and inspiration that does not stem from a link to the painter’s own world of feeling and personal imagination, render the painting overly technical, emptier, and less connected to the power of expression. An artist may draw inspiration from many sources, both internal and external; anything that generates within him a profound impulse to express it on paper or canvas constitutes a source of inspiration. He must be sufficiently active to make room for it and not merely wait for it to arrive of its own accord. The artist is the creator, the initiator, the source, and the cause.
